Taking pictures with Mr and Mrs Bowman and
his mother in the morning of my departure
after two months' home stay in Bournemouth, I said
good-bye to them. Their daughter Rosemarry had gone out
to work. Grandma came near and gave me a kiss on
the back of my hand, and Mrs Bowman a soft touch on
my cheek too. This was my first experience. We Japanese boys
are not accustomed to such an European way of greeting. So
I was somewhat out of mind with a mixture of lonliness and
gratitude.
Mr Bowman drove me to the coach station. When I shook
hands with him, he said that his wife was a collector of
Japanese stamps. More active conversation with her, I
could have heard her express so. It's no use crying
over spilt milk! Now, go ahead.
